Originally launched in English-speaking markets like the U.S. and expanded to Australia, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and India in late September 2025, the “Scam Detection” feature for the default “Phone by Google” app on Google Pixel devices is now arriving in Japan.
It appears that “Scam Detection” has finally started rolling out in Japan. However, in the Japanese market, it is being introduced as “Scam Detection” (不正検出) rather than “Scam Detection,” as suggested by earlier leaked information.
Furthermore, the rollout currently seems limited to a small number of Google Pixel devices. Note that “Scam Detection” in the “Phone by Google” app is a feature intended for the Google Pixel 9 and later models.

“Scam Detection” in the “Phone by Google” app is an AI-powered feature that detects potentially malicious calls, such as scams, and notifies the user during the call. Since “Scam Detection” does not include a call recording function, it is recommended to use it in conjunction with the “Call Notes” recording feature.
