- A new UI for the “Scroll Translation” feature within “Circle to Search” appears to have begun a wide rollout around mid-December 2025.
- Previously, “Scroll Translation” displayed the language selection menu at the top of the screen while the [Translate while scrolling] button was at the bottom. Tapping that button would switch the interface to the dynamic “Scroll Translation” mode.
- In the now widely available new UI, the language selection and the “Scroll Translation” button have been integrated into a single menu at the bottom of the screen for a smarter, more refined design.
The “Scroll Translation” (Translate while scrolling) feature for “Circle to Search”—the gesture-based search function for Android devices—was announced on September 4, 2025, and finally began rolling out with the “Android 16 QPR2” minor update released on December 2, 2025.
“Scroll Translation” is a new feature that evolves from a static specification—translating only the text currently visible on the page—to a dynamic one where translation occurs in real-time as you scroll. We previously reported that testing for a new UI for this feature began between early and mid-December 2025.
It now appears that this new UI for “Circle to Search” scroll translation has started rolling out widely as of mid-December 2025.

However, in the new UI now being widely deployed following the test phase, the language selection and the “Scroll Translation” button have been consolidated into a single menu at the bottom of the screen, resulting in a smarter and more streamlined redesign.
As a side note, while the standard “Circle to Search” (circling items to search) becomes unavailable during dynamic “Scroll Translation,” it remains functional when using the static translation mode.
