- Available on Android smartphones with Android 8 Oreo or later that support the “Google Play services” app (GMS / Google Mobile Services), rolling out in the US, Germany, and Mexico.
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Google announced the introduction of “Emergency Live Video” for Android.
The “Emergency Live Video” feature coming to Android works during an emergency call or SMS message made via features like “Emergency Sharing,” “Car Crash Detection,” or “Emergency SOS” in the Android “Personal Safety” app. When an emergency operator receives the call, they can send a request for “Emergency Live Video.” The user can then start streaming to the operator with a single tap on their screen. This enables the operator to quickly assess the situation, make informed decisions, and provide appropriate assistance.
The Android “Emergency Live Video” stream is encrypted, and users can stop it at any time, ensuring a basic level of privacy.

The newly announced “Emergency Live Video” feature for Android will be available on Android smartphones running Android 8 Oreo or later that support the “Google Play services” app (GMS / Google Mobile Services). However, it will be rolled out in the US, Germany, and Mexico, with no plans for a Japanese release at this time.
Incidentally, the existence of the Android “Emergency Live Video” feature was discovered in the internal code of the “Google Play services” app v25.35 back in September 2025. Three months later, it is now being officially implemented.
