- This release is “Android 16 QPR2,” a minor update to the “Android 16” major update that was released on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
- It delivers Android security patch updates, bug fixes/improvements, and several new features.
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Google began rolling out the monthly December 2025 software update for its Google Pixel devices running the new-generation Android OS “Android 16”: “Pixel 9,” “Pixel 9 Pro,” “Pixel 9 Pro XL,” “Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” and “Pixel 9a.” This update includes the usual security vulnerability fixes and feature enhancements.
The December 2025 monthly software update, which has started rolling out to Google Pixel devices, is the release of “Android 16 QPR2,” a minor OS update to the major “Android 16” update released on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. It brings Android security patch updates, bug fixes/improvements, and several new features.
Furthermore, starting with this minor OS update, “Android 16 QPR2,” the Android OS will shift from a single major update per year to a more frequent release cycle.

The bug fixes and improvements applied in the December 2025 monthly software update (Android 16 QPR2 update) for Google Pixel devices are as follows.

After the December 2025 monthly software update for “Pixel 9,” “Pixel 9 Pro,” “Pixel 9 Pro XL,” “Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” and “Pixel 9a,” the build number will be updated to “BP4A.251205.006” (or “BP4A.251205.006.C1”), and the Android security patch level will be updated to “December 5, 2025.”

The software update for Google Pixel devices is being rolled out in phases via Over-the-Air (OTA), starting today and over the next week. To check if the update is available, go to Android Settings > System > Software update, and tap on System Update.
