On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Google began rolling out the December 2025 monthly software update for its Google Pixel devices running the new-generation Android OS, “Android 16”: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a. This update includes the usual security vulnerability fixes and feature enhancements.
The December 2025 monthly software update now rolling out to Google Pixel devices is the release of “Android 16 QPR2,” a minor OS update to the major “Android 16” update released on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. It brings Android security patch updates, bug fixes/improvements, and several new features.
Furthermore, starting with this minor OS update, “Android 16 QPR2,” the Android OS will shift away from a single major update per year to a more frequent release cycle.
The bug fixes and improvements included in the December 2025 monthly software update (Android 16 QPR2 update) for Google Pixel devices are as follows.

After the December 2025 monthly software update for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a, the build number will be updated to “BP4A.251205.006” and the Android security patch level to “December 5, 2025”.

The software update for Google Pixel devices is rolling out “Over the Air (OTA)” in phases, starting today and continuing over the next week. You can check if the software update is available by going to Android Settings > System > Software update and tapping on System update.
