On Monday, December 1, 2025, Google announced the expanded rollout of its AI search, “AI Mode,” which incorporates the most intelligent next-generation AI model, “Gemini 3.”
“AI Mode” with Gemini 3, which was previously limited to the US in English, has now been expanded to over 120 countries. However, although Japan is included among the countries in this expansion, the rollout is currently limited to the English language environment. Therefore, when using “AI Mode” in Japanese, it will continue to be based on “Gemini 2.5” as before.
Furthermore, “AI Mode” with Gemini 3 is available to members of the “Google One” AI subscription plans, “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra.” By selecting “Thinking with 3 Pro (Gemini 3 Pro)” from the AI model dropdown in “AI Mode” and submitting a prompt, you will receive responses based on “Gemini 3.”
In addition, the cutting-edge image generation AI model “Nano Banana Pro” has also been integrated into “AI Mode,” enabling advanced image generation and editing. However, this is also limited to the English environment and is available to “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members.
