On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Google finally officially announced the interoperability between its Android nearby sharing feature, Quick Share, and Apple devices’ nearby sharing feature, AirDrop.
The interoperability between “Quick Share” and “AirDrop,” or the development of an Apple version of “Quick Share,” has been rumored for exactly one year, and it has finally become a reality. It appears that rather than an Apple version of “Quick Share,” it will be a simple and smart integration of “Quick Share” and “AirDrop.”
However, initial support on the Android side will be limited to the new-generation Google Pixel “Pixel 10” series. Additionally, the interoperability with “AirDrop” will be enabled through an update to the newly released “Quick Share Expansion” app, which serves as a “system service” to ensure the proper functioning of the Android platform.

The range of Android devices compatible with “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” interoperability is scheduled to expand in the future. Incidentally, this means that “Quick Share” now supports Apple devices in addition to its existing file sharing capabilities between Android, ChromeOS, and Windows. Wonderful.
