“@SynthID” itself is a technology that embeds a digital watermark into AI-generated images, videos, audio, and text. This allows for the identification of whether a piece of media was generated by AI.

However, the “@SynthID” added to Gemini’s “Extensions” this time appears to be a “SynthID Detector” for detecting whether the “SynthID” digital watermark is embedded in media, rather than for embedding the watermark itself.
