On Monday, November 17, 2025, Google announced the free release of its Google AI “Gemini” features within “Google Vids,” the video editing service for its “Google Workspace” groupware.
While “Google Vids” is a video editing service also available to general Google users, its most distinctive feature has been its AI capabilities powered by “Gemini”—such as AI-generated narration and image editing. These features were primarily aimed at members of “Google Workspace” accounts and subscribers to the “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” plans within the “Google One” online storage service. In other words, until now, a paid subscription to Google was required to make full use of “Google Vids.”
However, the “Gemini” features in “Google Vids” are now being unlocked for general Google users with a “Gmail” account. They are now surprisingly available for free. The free release of the “Gemini” features in “Google Vids” is being rolled out gradually, starting on the day of the announcement, Monday, November 17, 2025.
