In the “Google System Updates” release notes for Android-related devices, published on Monday, November 10, 2025, Google announced the “Live Video Sharing” feature, which will be unlocked in Android’s “Emergency SOS.”
The new “Live Video Sharing” feature for “Emergency SOS” allows users to use live video sharing when activating “Emergency SOS” on Android. This is not for general live streaming; rather, the live video is shared with emergency responders to better communicate the urgency of the situation.
Therefore, the feature is likely only meaningful if emergency services are equipped to view the shared live video. That said, “Live Video Sharing” in “Emergency SOS” also simultaneously performs a video recording, or “emergency video recording.”
In other words, the “Live Video Sharing” feature has been added to the existing “emergency video recording” function. Incidentally, this new “Live Video Sharing” feature for “Emergency SOS” had been rumored for some time, and this marks its official announcement.
