Again: October 2025 Update Not Released for Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a

  • As of now, the October 2025 monthly software update has not been released for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and its budget version, the Pixel 6a, which are guaranteed to receive software updates until October 2026.
  • For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, this is the second time this has happened, following the non-release of the July 2025 monthly software update.
  • It is currently unknown whether the update will not be released at all or if it will be released with a delay, as no official announcement has been made.

On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Google began rolling out the October 2025 monthly software update, which includes the usual security vulnerability fixes and feature enhancements, for Google Pixel devices from the Pixel 7 series onwards.

Meanwhile, for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro—the first Google Pixel devices equipped with the original “Tensor” processor, released in October 2021—and its budget version, the Pixel 6a, which are guaranteed to receive software updates until October 2026, the October 2025 monthly software update has not yet been released. For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, this is the second time this has occurred, following the non-release of the July 2025 monthly software update. The update remains unreleased.

It is currently unknown whether the October 2025 monthly software update for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a will not be released at all or if it will be rolled out with a delay, as no official announcement has been made.

Incidentally, the Japanese domestic versions of the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a experienced an issue from late September to early October 2025 where “Osaifu-Keitai” related services using FeliCa did not function correctly on some devices. However, this FeliCa issue has since been resolved with an emergency “Google Play system update” that was rolled out.
