We previously reported that “Google Play Collections,” a personalized space for new apps and content that began rolling out to the Android “Google Play Store” app on Android 10 and later in the US about a year ago in July 2024, started a partial rollout in Japan about three months ago, around July 2025.
Several months later, while the rollout of “Google Play Collections” has been gradually expanding to Android devices in Japan, there has been no official announcement of its launch in the country, even as of October 2025. However, the English page “Learn about Google Play Collections on Android” on the official “Google Play Help” site has been updated to explicitly state its official availability in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the United States, and now, Japan.

However, the Japanese page, “About using Google Play Collections on Android,” still contains the old text announcing a future rollout to regions including Japan, which suggests the full expansion is not yet complete. This kind of inconsistency is a classic, unwritten rule at Google.
It is expected that Google will make another official announcement when the full-scale rollout of “Google Play Collections” to regions outside the US is complete.
