On Monday, September 29, 2025, the v16.1 update for the “Android Accessibility Suite” app, which consolidates Android’s accessibility features, began rolling out.

This v16.1 update to the “Android Accessibility Suite” app introduces several new features, including expanded language support for the Google AI “Gemini” integration features within the “TalkBack” screen reader. These features—”Describe screen,” “Describe image,” and “Ask Gemini”—began rolling out in English on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and were further enhanced on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Previously available only in English, “Describe screen,” “Describe image,” and “Ask Gemini” have now expanded their support to 38 languages, including Japanese.

Additionally, the “Android Accessibility Suite” app v16.1 update introduces a new “Reduce delay” setting to shorten the lag in TalkBack’s read-aloud during touch guidance and input, as well as customization settings for the on-screen virtual braille keyboard.
